NORFIL ECFI

Enable Communities for Inclusion Program for Children and Youth with Disabilities

About the Program

The Enable Communities for Inclusion (ECFI) program for children and youth with disability aims to provide rehabilitation services to children and youth with disabilities by mobilizing community resources through its local government units (LGU).

ECFI seeks to equalize opportunities for social integration of children and youth with disabilities and their families through access to services that are appropriate and affordable. It enables and mobilizes families and communities in implementing a sustainable rehabilitation program.

The goal is to increase the number of rehabilitated children and youth with disabilities through home and village-based programs and services that ensure their integration and participation in society. The program is implemented in partnership with LGUs, other NGOs, civic organizations, parents/families, and community volunteers.

Enabling Support: AKAPIN

With the vision of having an inclusive society, the NORFIL CBID program also aims to create an organization of parents.

After a five-year period of NORFIL’s project in a province, it transitioned to AKAPIN where sustainability of CBID was continued. AKAPIN now works in partnership with the Local Government Units while NORFIL still offers guidance and technical assistance to them.

AKAPIN also serves as a support group for parents. They are able to represent and voice out the needs of their children to the duty bearers and take actions to solve them.
